Neway, I'm a self taught quilter, fabric lover, and currently a very serious Kikki K planner addict. Quilting and Sewing has been a part of my family for generations. I'm pretty proud to carry on this great tradition.

I'm so happy your here today. I'm going to do a book review for Kim's new book release Scrap Happy Sewing, and Stitch Craft Create Magazine's upcoming release 50 Fat Quarter Makes.

Scrap Happy Sewing by Kim Kruzitch, also Retro Mama is absolutely adorable! The layout is fabulous, gorgeous photos throughout, and really easy to follow instructions. I wish I would have had more time to sew something up, but given that I wasn't able to, let me show you a couple of my favorite picks!

I'm definitely going to be sewing up this great Tote Bag..

Super cute pleated pincushions..

Adorable makeup zipper pouches..

And so many other great projects! How can you just choose one?

Stitch Craft Create Magazine's 50 Fat Quarter Makes is also a wonderful book, with so many great projects geared towards using, what else? Fat quarters of course! The layout is great, and I can not tell you how exciting it is to see each chapter sorted by the amount of FQs you will need for each project! Unique and absolutely functional.

Check out these great projects I've picked out. A very cute cushion cover...

A Chefs Potholder..

How about this great house table runner..

Endless possibilities!

Both books are great for the confident beginner, well written, with easy to follow directions, and beautiful photos throughout. What do you think? Would you like a copy? Well your in luck! Sewing Nook

Hello everyone! I hope your weekend was as fun filled as our was. So much fun!
Today I'm going to share photos of my sewing area. I've had so many inquires as to where I sew, how I have it set up, and how I use my space. I thought a few photos would be a great way to share this. So here is my sewing nook.

I have it setup in an area that's meant to be the dining area. My husband was so sweet to let me have this space as my own :D. Since we live in a small apartment, I don't have too much room for my own studio as I previously did.

I store all of my fabric in a china cabinet, and drawers under my table. Any other supplies go in bins or boxes on a half shelf. Which is also under my sewing table.

For now I have a tall make-shift bookshelf which also holds my iron, small ironing supplies, embroidery hoops on the side, of course my sewing books, and a basket of fabric scraps at the bottom. Not so pretty to look at, but its functional & works well for now.

My very talented husband, David, is as handsome as he is handy. He built my sewing table to fit perfectly in this spot. I can't get over how much I love it!

I even had enough room to put up a make-shift design board! Basically about a yard of fabric, and rough batting sewn together, and put up with pins.

This area gives me so much joy. It's has plenty of natural light, just enough room for all of my things, and I can even open the patio door for fresh air when the weather is nice out. One other thing I adore about this space?

I can see Samycakes and Dave playing outside while I sew ;D. Here they are throwing snowballs at me this past winter. Bad Boys!

I'm going to miss this place when we finally find our new home. Meanwhile I'll be soaking up my favorite space in our apartment. I hope this has inspired those of you looking to spruce up your small space. It's not much, but it's mine & I love every inch of it!

Don't forget to tune in tomorrow, as it's my turn for the Stash-Busting Blog Hop! I'll be hosting a fun giveaway, so be sure to come back!!

Happy Spring!!

Kikki K Love +Giveaways!

About two weeks ago or so, I received an exciting package. I ordered a Kikki K Textured Leather Personal Planner, and a few accessories to go with it. I'm beyond excited!! Honestly, I've been so obsessed with it these last few weeks, it's put everything else on hold. I find myself playing and referring to it every. single. day.

The color alone is enough to make me pull it out and stare at it all day. Gorgeous! Seriously, these photos do not do it justice. I immediately started setting it up, and filling it.

Stickers, project life cards, dashboard set ups, washi tape, the works. I've gone through every single tab. Every single page. Every pocket. Everything!

Personalizing, and decorating my pages. Oh the joy! A few years ago (and I mean long long ago), I was a huge planner fan, but it was never this much fun. I've figured out that even in this digital age, the physical act of writing something down seems to better help me remember my goals.

It helps keep me on track through out my day, month, year. All that jazz. Sure, just using a piece of paper to write down your errands works. However, I found I kept loosing my notes, or just forgetting to bring them along with me. When you have an entire day full of errands, it just gets plain irritating.

Before I realized it, my planner was bursting. I was watching every you tube video available to help me make the most of my planner. SO many videos!

And the ideas are endless! I have to say, I'm in planner heaven!

Well, it's worked out splendidly! There is definitely another purchase in my future! I'm thinking a medium perhaps?

So now for the fun part! Giveaway Time!!

I've decided to do TWO GIVEAWAYS! Yay!!

The first is in honor of my new reborn obsession. Planner Love. Ready?...

Yep, that's right! Everything you see in the photo above! Including a new Life Is Sweet Sticker Book from Kikki K 😘!

The second, for all my quilty friends and fabric lovers out there...

Yes, super cute 30s repo and Yukon Hasegawa! I know I haven't been sewing much lately, but that's all because of my new fun cute planner. She's to blame. Not to worry though, I have to get back to it next week 😘.

Nitty gritty rules:
1. Be sure your a follower and/or subscriber here on my blog.
2. Follow my IG account. There's a link on the top right.
3. Last but not least, comment below telling me which giveaway you'd most love to receive.

Giveaway ends 26th February 2015.

Good Luck!!

---GIVEAWAY CLOSED! Congratulations to my winners and Thank You to all who entered!---

Sew Dreamy

So I had this idea for a mug rug one day. From beginning to end, it was a total improv project. I never really knew what this was going to look like, as most of my projects go, but this turned out 'Sew Dreamy'!

The idea came to me when I was on a call. I started sketching this cutie on paper, simply because I'd rather be asleep dreaming of sewing, instead of on such a long drawn out boring call.

The backing is Michael Miller, that I scored from a IG destash. It's a beautiful honey brown color.

The quilt idea was sketched a little differently on paper. Once I got going though, I started liking the simplicity of the patchwork. These are all various japanese fabrics I either received in swaps, or purchased on Etsy or destashes. I'm addicted to Japanese fabrics right now :).

As for my girl, she was hand drawn on natural linen, and then embroidered. Some are COSMO floss others are DMC floss.

I really love how this turned out! I wonder what my next project is going to be.. any thoughts?
